Ipswich manager Joe Royle hopes it will be a case of second time lucky
with the loan capture of Southampton striker Ricardo Fuller.

The 26-year-old Jamaican international, previously with Hearts, Preston
and Portsmouth, is expected at Portman Road on Friday morning to
rubber-stamp a one-month deal.

Royle tried in vain to tempt Fuller to sign last month, but he said: "I didn't
give up and hopefully it has paid off. There are one or two slight
complications to sort out but our chairman has agreed things with his
Southampton counterpart, Rupert Lowe, and the player's agent.

"Ricardo didn't want to go out on loan last month but he hasn't been
playing and I just reminded him that he should be playing.

"With Alan Lee ruled out for the next few games it would be a real boost
to get Ricardo in. He can do a good job for us as we look to close the gap
on teams above us and make it into the play-offs for the third year in a
row."

Lee became the eighth Ipswich striker to be injured this season when he
suffered a slight hamstring tear after scoring in the 2-1 win at Crewe on
Tuesday.

LONDON, England (CMC) - Jamaican international Ricardo Fuller is hoping
the success that Alan Lee experienced at Ipswich comes his way, during
his pending loan spell at the east England club.

The 26-year-old Fuller, who has been unable to find a settled place at a
club since leaving Preston North End two years ago, signed a loan deal
with Ipswich from Southampton this week.

Lee moved from Cardiff City to Ipswich recently and has already netted
four goals in six outings.

"He was not getting much of a chance at Cardiff but his move to Ipswich
has worked really well for him," Fuller told the club's media.

"Sometimes when players move to a new club they need time to settle in,
but Alan has made an immediate impact. He's playing games and scoring
goals and the move has given him a confidence boost."

He added: "I'm in the same situation as Alan was before he joined
Ipswich. I have not played many games lately and am looking for regular
first-team football."

"I had a good goals record in this league with Preston and I'm confident
that if I can get a run of games, I can score goals."

"Ipswich play the style of football I like, a passing style, and I'm looking
forward to my time here and playing a part in helping the club continue
pushing up the table."

Fuller was expected to make his debut for Ipswich on Saturday against
Wolves, but the British Home Office indicated that he would need to apply
for a new work permit before he could suit up.
